With 19 different partners Schibsted Tech Polska works with a wide range of products and technologies. In fact there are few modern software technologies that are not used in at least one of our development teams.
Here are five of the many projects we have completed in the last half year. Together they give a snapshot of the type of projects we run in Schibsted Tech Polska.

Project 1: New video platform for VGTV
Half a million video views daily gave the programmers no room for errors when the new video platform for Norway´s largest news site was launched last year. VGTV is the leading web-TV-channel in Norway – and the video platform built in Schibsted Tech Polska is also used by several other media houses in Schibsted Media Group.
– It is simply a dream to work with our team in Krakow, said product owner Erik Saastad in VGTV when the platform was launched.
Project 2: City guide for Kristiansand
Fædrelandsvennen is the major newspaper in the southern Norwegian city Kristiansand. As many media houses it faced challenges reaching the youngest part of the population. The media house therefore decided to launch KRSBy.no, a city guide for young people in Kristiansand.
The development team in Schibsted Tech Polska was given almost full freedom to choose technology and chose AngularJS as the frontend solution.
Project 3: Traffic app for Stavanger
As in many cities traffic can be a nightmare in rush hours in Stavanger, Norway´s “oil capital”. Traffic jams are frequent and commuters also experience problems when using public transportation such as trains, buses and boats.
Stavanger Aftenblad´s team in Schibsted Tech Polska therefore developed a mobile app to help users alert each other live about traffic jams.
Project 4: Scalable event engine for media houses
Take lots of concerts, exhibits and films. Throw in restaurants, museums and pubs. Welcome to Event Engine 2.0!
Event Engine 2.0 was developed by Schibsted Norway as a scalable product to be used by several media houses. It allows each of the media houses to easily set up a event service on their websites, with listings of everything that happens in the city.
Project 5: Editorial A/B tool for Aftenposten
For journalists writing the best headlines have always been a core element of their profession. The challenge is how to know exactly which headline most readers will find most tempting.
In marketing A/B testing is often used to compare the efficiency of different landing pages. But what about the daily life of a newsroom? Could editors on the fly test two alternative headlines with readers and then choose the version that most readers clicked on? All in matter of minutes?
The develoment team of Aftenposten solved it.
